At First United Methodist Church Coppell

  • We believe in upholding children as sacred gifts from God. /files/Store Downloads/children.gif
  • We strive to create a greater presence and awareness of children and their needs.
  • We teach children that Christ calls all of us, no matter how old we are, to serve others in God’s love.
  • We understand that the role of helping children to grow in their spirituality and develop into true disciples of Christ is a blessed call and a vow that the congregation makes at a child’s baptism.
  • We welcome children of all ages to be a part of our worship service and partake in the Lord’s Supper.
  • We believe that children have many gifts to share with the body of Christ.
  • We believe in sharing the love of Christ with all of God’s children!

Nursery
Loving care is offered in the Church’s Nurseries for infants through young 3 year olds (children who turned 3 after September 1st of the current academic year).  Please stop by the nursery check in window./files/Store Downloads/nurseryministry.jpg

  • Professional childcare personnel as well as parent volunteers provide a safe, welcoming Christian atmosphere for our youngest children.
  • Our nursery is available for all worship service times and for Sunday School.
  • To ensure that parents can fully experience fellowship, study and worship with assurance that their nursery child is safe and well cared for, we provide parents with vibrating pagers when they register their child for nursery care.

Additional nursery hours are available for Bible Study classes and other special church events.  Parents may call the childcare reservation line at 972-462-0471, ext. 226.  Childcare can only be guaranteed if a reservation is made 48 hours in advance and if there are 4 or more children registered.

Sunday School
Sunday morning classes for 3 year olds-5th grade provide a scriptural foundation for children's spiritual growth. Preschool-Kindergarten have music gathering every Sunday. All classes are in the traditional format and stay in the same classrooom each week. We use Rock Solid curriculum from United Methodist publishing. Click
here for a floor plan and classroom list.

Wee Worship

A supplementary worship experience offered at 11:00 am during the school year for children ages three through first grade. Children join Wee Worship leaders and parent volunteers after "Children's Time" during the worship service except on Communion Sundays (first Sunday of the month) and in the summer. Register for Wee Worship at the table in Wesley Hall before the service each Sunday so your child will receive a nametag for security purposes.

Worship Folders
Worship folders are available in the baskets on the tables in the narthex each Sunday.  These folders, for ages 3-6 and 7-11, contain Bible-based worksheets, crayons, and pipe cleaners for the enjoyment of the children during the service.  Please return the folders, crayons, and any un-used items to the baskets under the table after the service.  We also have a special children's bulletin to help them learn the different aspects of worship.

Acolytes
All 5th graders at First United Methodist Church Coppell are invited to help lead us in worship by bringing in the cross and light of Jesus, and also help with offering and communion.
