PEARLS Bible Study Group is currently reading “Fear of the Other,” by William H Willimon. All are welcome to attend the June 22 meeting that will be held from  7  to 8:30 p.m. in Wesley Hall. Guest speaker is Rev. Rachel Baughman, who will be senior pastor at Oak Lawn UMC as of July 1.

Rachel is also a founder of AMAL=Hope, a nonprofit that partners with people of Lebanon to bring hope for a brighter tomorrow by sharing the love of God in the world. Rachel has served at University Park UMC for the past 10 years. She is passionate about discipleship, social justice, and hospitality for those on the margins.

A graduate of Texas Wesleyan University and Drew Theological Seminary, Rachel edited the CEB Women’s Study Bible and has contributed to curricula for Sparkhouse. She is a certified Birkman coach who loves strengthening church staffs and lay leadership to improve their mutual understanding and ability to work well with each other. Her husband, Rev. Mike Baughman, is also a United Methodist minister. They live in the Dallas area with their four children, Griffin (16), Bekah (14), Sylvia (10), and Thomas (8).
