loving hands ministry for children with special needs
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me for they shall inherit the kingdom of heaven.” Our Loving HANDS Ministry offers Hope, Acceptance, iNclusion, Dignity, and Support for all families of young adults, youth, and children with special needs.
Our goal is to ensure each child feels loved and accepted. We will provide a buddy for children who may need a little extra help staying focused during a church activity. This also enables the rest of the family to participate in other activities that interest them. We offer this service free of charge, and families do not have to be members of the church to participate.
We have many wonderful, loving volunteers who are ready and willing to share God’s love with your children.
Loving HANDS Respite
We would love to give parents with special needs kids some much deserved time to themselves. We offer a respite–a safe, fun, and free place to bring your special needs children (ages 1 – 16 ) and their siblings (up to age 10). We assign two volunteers to each child, and a registered nurse is present at each respite. All adult volunteers have completed Ministry Safe training and background checks.
- Pre-registration and reservations are required.
- Respite dates for 2019/2020:
- September 21
- October 19
- November 16
- January 18
- February 22
- April 18
- May 16

“Night to Shine” Prom
First United Methodist Church is once again partnering with St. Ann Parrish and The Servant House to host “Night to Shine” which is a Tim Tebow sponsored event where people with special needs can shine as they walk down the red carpet and enter into the ballroom to be greeted as kings and queens. Not only is this a time for the guests to shine, but also for churches, volunteers and most importantly Christ.
