Pastor-Led Bible Studies

The Epic of Eden:  Understanding the Old Testament – Let’s be honest: the Older Testament can be difficult. The pre-Jesus part of the Bible can seem convoluted with lineages, stories, and laws that seem quite removed from the 21st Century.  The Hebrew Scriptures can feel like a grab bag of people, books, events, and ideas, and it can be hard for us make sense of it and see how it connects to God’s bigger story.

In Epic of Eden, Dr. Sandra Richter jumps headlong into the Old Testament to clearly and powerfully communicate a history of God’s redeeming grace, weaving together a story that runs from the Eden of the Garden to the garden of the New Jerusalem.  Through text and video teaching, Dr. Richter uses this 12-week Old Testament Bible study to bring a new dimension to the history of the ancient Near East, orienting any study group in time, geography, culture, redemption, and relevance to today — all without diminishing her reader’s faith or “dumbing down” the scripture.

Knowing Christ through the book of Hebrews – While the New Testament is the central context for our Christian belief, the book of Hebrews is central to developing a Christology for the church.  In this study, we will explore the overarching theme of how we draw nearer to God by way of what God has done for us.  As daunting as it may seem to study, we will, verse by verse, dive into the theology and themes found in Hebrews .  This study will continue until the whole book is completed.  So hold on and lets learn.
