Advent is upon us, a multi-sensory season in which we anticipate the birth of Christ at Christmas through, lights, décor, gifts, food, fellowship and of course festive Carols.  What would this time of year be like without the well-known music of the season?  But many of these great carols have a profound message of good news that can be missed in the midst of their familiarity.  Join us for our Advent message series – Caroling the Gospel –  in which we explore the backstory and message behind some all-time great carols, uniting music and message for a richer, more meaningful celebration of Jesus’ birth.

 Welcome to a Sacred Space

In Advent, we have the time to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of the King, Jesus. And we have the hope of celebrating that the King will come again. All are invited to a come and go experience through family-friendly stations in the Sanctuary on Sundays through December 17 between services, and also during the week through December 15: 7:30 a.m.- 6 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, and 8 a.m.- noon on Friday.

A Different Kind of Giving will be held Sundays through December 17  from 9 to 10:45 a.m. Featured groups will be SERRV, Partners for Just Trade, Christ Foundry, Africa Mission, Soul Sisters for a Cause, Marfa Ministries, Scholastic Books, and more. This event is designed to let us come together as a church family to help others in need. The items will also be out during the week for everyone to view. Questions? Contact Martha Hagan at

Christmas Eve Pageant

Children are needed for the Christmas Eve Pageant Service at 4 p.m. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade are invited to participate as an angel, shepherd, or to give benediction with Pastor Tom. We will have a few acting and reading parts for children, starting with 5th graders and moving to 4th and 3rd graders if needed. All participating children must be at rehearsal on Friday, December 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm in the Sanctuary.

To sign up, call the church office at 972-462-0471 by Sunday, December 10 and give the name, grade and role (angel, shepherd, or devotion) of each child. In order to have this service be meaningful for all, it is extremely crucial for us to have parent volunteers. Please volunteer by contacting Kathy Braem at

Sunday, December 10 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Your cookies really can make a difference!

The much-anticipated 31st Annual FUMC UMW Cookie Jamboree is just around the corner. BUT, we can’t do it without YOU!! This is our biggest mission fundraiser of the year. Proceeds this year will go to UMW Hurricane Relief Fund. Click here to read more about this fund.

Step One: Raise your spatula! We need all of our church family to bake sweets for the Jamboree. Do you have kids looking for service hours? If they bake, we give hours!!

Step Two: Turn on your ovens! Double the dough and bake 2-3 batches of cookies/sweets and bring them in a labeled, foil lined box/tray to the church on Saturday, December 9 between 11 a.m. and1 p.m. or Sunday, December 10 by 9 a.m. (Room 302/Wesley Hall).

Step Three: Satisfy your sweet tooth! The sale is open to everyone and starts at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 10. Line up in Wesley Hall, pay $10 for an empty box and fill it up with sweets. Take home and enjoy!
